February marks LGBT+ History Month, and the university is hosting a series of events to celebrate.

Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex Swim
Taking place every Monday from 2pm to 3pm, these swim sessions are for trans, non-binary, genderqueer and intersex people, and are open to students and non-students.
Bookings are available through Strathclyde Sport’s booking and membership system. More information on where to go, what to expect, and accessibility can be found here.

StrathPride Film Screening
The university will be hosting a screening of FanFik, a Polish drama directed by Marta Karwowska.
The film explores the lives of students navigating themes of identity, belonging, relationships, and family tensions. It sheds light on the lives of LGBT+ individuals through its portrayal of the struggles and triumphs of individuals coming to terms with sexual orientation and gender identity.
The screening will be taking place in the Andersonian Library Film Theatre from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Thursday 20 February. Tickets are free, and you can reserve a spot here.

Queer and Trans Student Climbing Social
Join the Strathclyde University Mountaineering Club (SUMC) and Glasgow University Mountaineering Club (GUMC) for a social climbing night, open to all queer and trans students.
No prior experience is needed, so whether you’re an experienced climber or a beginner, SUMC encourages students to go along to socialise and meet people who can show you the ropes.
Entry costs £11, and SUMC will cover the cost of any kit rental on a first-come-first-served basis.
This social is taking place from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday 20 February in Glasgow Climbing Centre. You can reserve a spot here.

LGBT+ Mixer Party
Taking place in the union’s Mandela Auditorium, the LGBT+ Mixer Party offers a great chance to meet fellow LGBT+ students and staff in a relaxed atmosphere.
Food will be provided, and society members are welcome to announce upcoming events and initiatives.
The party is on from 3:30pm – 6pm on Monday 24 February, and you can book your free place here.

Zine Workshop
The University Library is hosting a zine-making workshop where you can learn to create your own zine with the help of friendly library staff.
Zines are small, self-published works that can include drawings, photos, comics, or anything you’re passionate about, like your favourite show or personal experiences. Zine-making is a fun and creative way to express yourself, relax, and improve mental well-being without pressure.
No creative skills are needed, and materials will be provided.
The session will be taking place in the John Anderson Meeting Room 3.16 in the Andersonian Library from 1pm to 3pm on Tuesday 25 February. No prior booking is necessary.

Drag Bingo
Whether you’re a seasoned bingo pro or a newbie looking for a wild night out, Drag Bingo welcomes all to partake a night of charismatic performances, sassy calls, and fabulous prizes.
The union encourages students to get their game face on, bring their sense of humour, and prepare to be thoroughly entertained by a show that celebrates individuality, creativity, and the joy of being exactly who you are.
Those looking to attend can do so at 8pm on Tuesday 25 February in The Terrace, Strath Union.
