Sporting Coverage Through the Easter Weekend

Whether it’s football or the NHL, this Easter weekend has everything on offer—but here are my picks that cannot be missed.

On Friday, we have prime English Championship football as Frank Lampard’s high-flying Coventry take on Derby County. Coventry are aiming to go 11 points clear at the top of the table, whereas Derby County are looking to push themselves into a play-off spot. This match kicks off at 8pm, and coverage is live on Sky Sports.

For all those ice hockey fans out there, whether you have been a long-term viewer or Heated Rivalry put you on this path, Premier Sports has you covered. From midnight onwards, they are showing coverage of the NHL game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders.

Saturday afternoon hosts a massive game in the FA Cup as title challengers Manchester City take on Liverpool, with a space in the semi-finals up for grabs. Manchester City have their eyes on an eighth FA Cup trophy; however, their Merseyside rivals are looking to make it nine trophy lifts at Wembley. That coverage begins on TNT Sports from 12.45pm.

For those who love horse racing, the UK meet is on ITV1 and STV from 1.15pm, as they bring you all the live coverage from Musselburgh and Haydock Park.

Capping off your Saturday night, the BBC are bringing you more FA Cup action as Premier League leaders Arsenal travel to Southampton, aiming to book their place in the semi-finals.

Sunday brings a superb afternoon of SPFL action as Sky Sports has two games back-to-back on your TV: Hearts travel to Livingston, and Celtic make the trip to Dundee—vital matches in the SPFL title race. Coverage of these matches begins at 1pm.

Rounding off the Scottish football action is the Challenge Cup, where League One Inverness Caledonian Thistle take on Championship opposition Raith Rovers. Raith manager Dougie Imrie is searching for his first piece of silverware as their manager. This should be another cracking match on Super Sunday, so make sure to tune in to BBC Alba at 4.10pm.

If you are looking to round off your Sunday evening, why not tune in to Sky Sports at 8pm, where you can catch all the action from the Ladies PGA Tour in Las Vegas in the PIF Global Series?

Tying your Easter weekend in a lovely sporting bow is the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, where coverage continues on Sky Sports from 10am, keeping you up to date with all of the action from the ATP World Tour.

To keep your afternoon ticking over, there is also plenty of English football action from across the Championship, League One, and League Two divisions.

To chip you into the rest of your week, the US Masters takes place on Sky Sports Golf from 5pm, with all practice days being covered right up to the main event on Thursday, as Rory McIlroy returns as defending champion.

There is so much more sport on offer across all the channels, and I, for one, can’t wait for a weekend full of sport—and possibly a few Easter eggs!
