Strathclyde’s Student Action For Refugees (STAR) committee is holding it’s own Christmas ceilidh night to mark the festive season this December at the students’ Union.

The night is set take place at Vertigo from 8 – 11:30, complete with Christmas crackers, santa hats and raffle prizes up for grabs.

The night will be hosted by STAR President, John Zamudio whilst the ceilidh itself will be hosted by Grant Crawford

Dressing to impress is also a good idea since the night will be covered by our very own Strath TV.

Everyone is welcome since entry is free though donations are appreciated in the form of food and clothing and anything else which may be beneficial.

Everything collected from the event will be donated to Glasgow Night Shelter who help refugees and asylum seekers in need.

STAR Strathclyde is part of a national charity network of 13,000 students welcoming refugees to the UK.

Their actives include volunteering at local refugee and asylum seeker projects, campaigning to improve their lives, fundraising for their welcome and generally educating people about refugees and asylum seekers’ situations.

The Christmas Ceilidh follows a successful Ceilidh and DJ night which took place in late October “in commemoration of the Black Refugee” in line with Black History month.
