Has your love life fallen into the same old tired date routine? Or perhaps trying to impress someone new with a cool rendezvous spot for you both to try? Here are 5 date ideas to do in Glasgow that aren’t the worn out pattern of dinner and drinks.
1. Pottery Painting
The Craft Pottery is an independent pottery painting studio based in the city centre just a short walk from Glasgow Central or Anderston station. They have plenty of different blank pottery pieces to choose from, and you can paint whatever design you like.
I think this is a great date activity to do together, you get to embrace your creative side and create a unique piece you can take home with you, a souvenir of sorts (don’t worry, they’ll ask you to collect it in a few weeks’ time once it has been glazed).
You can also bring your own refreshments with you so whether you are the designated driver or it’s your turn for a tipple you can have your choice of beverage.
2. Market and Independent Traders
Glasgow is in no short supply of independent markets, take the iconic Barras market for example, you also have Park Lane and The Railyard or if you prefer a pre-loved bargain there are car boot sales happening around the city every weekend.
This type of date does require a bit of pre-planning as these markets tend to only run on certain times or days, mostly weekends.
These Glasgow markets are full of different independent traders with lots of goods on offer from sweet treats, delicious food and amazing drinks to genuine cowboy boots, amazingly scented candles and perfume and handmade jewellery, there is 100% something for everyone at these markets.
You and your partner can enjoy wandering around the stalls looking for your next must-buy item while enjoying some of the great eateries on offer.
3. Elevated pub games
Recently Glasgow nightlife has seen the traditional pass time activities, of darts and bowling, turned into the latest trendy outing.

With venues such as Flight Club and The Raven offering bookings for interactive darts which allows the player to see their scores automatically counted, with instant action replay cameras and a twist on the traditional darts with their different game categories, you both can bring out your competitive sides.
Bowlarama in Glasgow’s Merchant city is another great activity spot, open until 2am most nights, you can take your evening well into the wee hours with games of bowling and drinks at their bar.
4. Glasgow’s Green Spaces
For a city to have as many gorgeous green spaces as Glasgow it would be silly to not take advantage of them. Having a walk around one of the local parks such as Glasgow Green, Queens Park, Kelvingrove Park or the Botanic Gardens, it is easy to take in the scenery and sights around you.
You can have picnics and long evenings in the summer, but even in this latter half of the year, you and your Boo (get it, Boo, because its nearly Halloween time) can get wrapped up warm and breathe some fresh air into your lungs, a fab way to get your body moving in an non-strenuous way and spend some quality time together when those winter blues might be starting to creep in. You could even hit up my favourite hot chocolate place, Uplands Roast in Kelvingrove park.
This is a very affordable option as all of Glasgow’s green spaces are free to enter and use, how much you spend on extras, such as food and drink, is totally up to you and your date.

5. Karaoke
Whether you are a karaoke veteran or a complete beginner, Glasgow has the singing venue for you.
Confident in your vocal skills and looking to impress a crowd ? Venues such as Cosmopol or the Horseshoe bar are known for their karaoke evenings.
Feeling a little bit shy? Venues like Supercube offer private karaoke rooms for a reasonable booking price. You and your partner can sing till your hearts are content and will have complete control over the song choices so you can really let loose. Hope you’ve both been practicing, I can see a duet in your future!
