Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei killed in US-Israeli airstrikes

Members from the Iran community celebrates after Tehran confirms the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, during a rally on 1 March, 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. Mixed reactions towards the death of Khamenei were seen across the globe, with some celebrating the end of his iron grip on power while some others grieved. Khamenei has been the country’s Supreme leader since 1989 and long accused of violating human rights, including restricting freedom of speech, executing political prisoners and violent crackdown of protests.
