The midweek games provided us with much entertainment, as Motherwell, Celtic and St. Mirren all extended their unbeaten league runs . This weekend, all twelve teams are in action and it provides us with some tasty games, including second-placed St. Mirren, who take on Celtic, with the top spot up for grabs. With much at stake for many teams, it is once again shaping up to be an entertaining weekend of Premiership football!

Aberdeen Vs Kilmarnock

Previous Fixtures: 1-0, 2-1, 0-3, 1-0
Having lost their midweek matches, both Aberdeen and Kilmarnock have endured poor starts to their league season, with Aberdeen losing three out of four ties, whilst Killie haven’t even notched a point and sit rock bottom of the table. Both are in desperate need of a win to try swing the momentum and turn their season around. Sadly for Kilmarnock, it does not look like that will be happening anytime soon, especially under Neil McCann. Although Aberdeen have had a poor run in the league since their opening victory against Hearts, Kilmarnock shave already shipped four or more goals in three of their four games so far this season and ultimately look far behind the rest of the league quality wise. Due to their poor start, I feel Kilmarnock have no chance in this match and Aberdeen are very likely to come away with the victory.
The Prediction: Aberdeen 3-0 Kilmarnock

Dundee United Vs Falkirk

Previous Fixtures: 2-2, 0-3, 3-2, 1-2
Both Dundee United and Falkirk are coming into this match off the back of losses during the midweek matches, as United were outclassed by Motherwell and lost 3-0, whilst Falkirk fell short against Rangers, losing 2-1. These two teams have suffered poor starts to their seasons, with Dundee United’s only win coming against a struggling Kilmarnock side, whilst Falkirk were dumped out of the League Cup in the group stages and have picked up just one point so far, leaving them 11th in the table. United have been dealt with a tough set of fixtures to start the season, facing teams such as Rangers, Hearts, and Motherwell. Falkirk have also endured a tough schedule, picking up a point against Motherwell before facing Celtic and Rangers within four days of each other. With these tough schedules, you can see why these teams are so low down the table. Falkirk have also lost many key members of last season’s squad who did so well to finish in the top six, meaning new signings have come in and not properly settled in. On the other hand, the Tangerines have just announced the permanent signing of Iraq international Zidane Iqbal, one that should excite and inject hope. He will, however, need time to settle in and with Jim Goodwin unfortunately unlikely to be on the sidelines due to an illness, I think they will struggle to get the better of a solid Falkirk team who deserved at least a point from their match against Rangers.
The Prediction: Dundee United 1-1 Falkirk

Rangers Vs Motherwell

Previous Fixtures: 1-1, 1-0, 1-1, 2-3
Rangers have finally got off the mark in the league, after drawing their first two games to Dundee United and Hibs. In their last two league matches, they have picked up six points from a six, beating Aberdeen and Falkirk in two close affairs. Motherwell on the other hand have enjoyed a much better start, still unbeaten in the league with two wins and two draws in their first four matches. With both coming into this having won their previous matches, confidence will be high between the two. Whilst Rangers have won their last two matches, they have been far too inconsistent under Derek McInnes and clearly need more time to settle down under their new manager. New signings have been flooding through the door but like the squad under McInnes, they will take time to settle in and are unlikely to make an instant impact. With their inconsistent form this season, they do not match up well against Motherwell, a side who went on a great European run and are unbeaten in the league so far. That is why I’m going to edge it towards Motherwell, who have looked brilliant so far (barring a slipup against Stenhousemuir) and are looking to once again have a great season.
The Prediction: Rangers 1-2 Motherwell

St. Mirren Vs Celtic

Previous Fixtures: 0-1, 3-1, 0-1, 2-6
The top two face off in an early matchup, as first placed Celtic travel to Paisley take on a St. Mirren side who have surprised everyone and currently sit second in the table. Celtic have won four out of four games so far, whilst St. Mirren have won three and drawn one, playing out a 3-3 thriller against Motherwell last weekend. It is shaping up to be a very exciting game as the two most in-form teams in the league face off. Whilst St. Mirren have obviously started the season incredibly well, their wins came against St. Johnstone, Falkirk and Kilmarnock, with the latter two teams sitting 11th and 12th respectively. Celtic have played similar opposition, as they beat Falkirk 2-1 and Kilmarnock 5-1, yet they looked far better against Kilmarnock than the Saints and convincingly beat Aberdeen 3-0 in their midweek match. Camilo Duran is on fire, having scored three goals in his last two games in the league, giving Celtic a much-needed attacking threat with Kasper Hogh out injured. With plenty of new signings through the door they now have a good squad with decent depth, which is why I’m tipping Celtic to get the job done and defeat St. Mirren.

The Prediction: St. Mirren 1-3 Celtic

Hearts v Dundee

Previous Fixtures: 0-1, 4-0, 1-0, 1-0
The victors of the Edinburgh and Dundee derbies face off in a bid to claim a spot in the top three as Hearts host Dundee. Having both played Hibs within the last week, Hearts earned the bragging rights, deservedly beating their city rivals last night whilst Dundee fell short and lost 2-1 to the Hibees. Against Hibs, Hearts were brilliant, with Josh McPake heavily impacting the game off the left with his chance creation, whilst James Wilson continued his scoring run and Calvin Miller caused many problems. When Dundee played the same opposition a week ago, they could not find a way through the Hibs defence until late in the game, a goal they received from some poor defending. With Hearts having such a great start to their domestic season (barring a late slip up away to Aberdeen), they are in fine form and will likely win this one comfortably. That is not to take away from Dundee, who have enjoyed a start better than most would have predicted given their tough schedule, but the quality Hearts possess is arguably the second best in the league, leading me to believe they will win this one.
The Prediction: Hearts 3-1 Dundee

St. Johnstone Vs Hibernian

Previous Fixtures: 1-3, 0-2, 1-1, 3-0
It’s eighth against seventh as St. Johnstone host Hibs, with both looking to forget recent losses against Hearts and climb the table. Both have endured mixed starts to the season; for St. Johnstone, they picked up a win against Kilmarnock on the opening day before two narrow losses against St. Mirren and Hearts, with a draw against Dundee following in their midweek match. Hibs have won two and lost two, with the brutal derby loss to Hearts still very much fresh in the mind. With Jordan Obita potentially injured, Jack Iredale suspended, Rocky Bushiri still injured and Warren O’Hora moving on to Leicester, Hibs are very short handed on the defensive front. With these defensive issues combined with potential finishing problems for their forwards, it is looking to be a tough few months for Hibs if things do not improve quickly. For St. Johnstone, a side many tipped to go down this season, their start has been better than expected and with players such as Josh Fowler hitting form early on, I can see them picking up at least a point against this downtrodden Hibs side.
