Media Fatigue

“I didn’t know what to do about any of it. I turned off the TV until the next crisis came.”

To exist below, is to witness the rich and powerful

play at being God;

tearing apart societies and

intruding upon communities

they have no part of.

Their fingers are in every pie,

upturning it upon the counter

leaving with their hands

stained.

I know instantly, we all do.

Their actions live streamed,

each of us connected, wired – stuck

together, watching as they decide

one life is worth more than

hundreds.

One blanket statement,

comes the upset of countless lives,

fears paramount.

The world wide web and her

access to wisdom,

the answer to any question

at the touch of my fingertips

and yet i still ask:

do you even care?

but they don’t care, do they?

They never see the blood, the tears, the heartbreak

caused by one wet signature.
