October is Black History Month, and the University of Strathclyde is hosting the following events on-campus to acknowledge, celebrate, and honour Black heritage and culture.

Recurring Narratives: Development Discourse and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Colonial and Independent Malawi.

In a collaboration with Strathclyde’s Department of Humanities, the Scottish Malawi Partnership will host Professor Wapulumuka Mulwafu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Mzuzu University (MZUNI).

The lecture will be taking place on Friday 11 October 2024 at 2pm in TL329.

A Conversation on Race, Equality & Heritage with Lilian Thuram.

Taking place on Wednesday 23 October 2024 at 6pm in TL325, this event will be followed by a Round Table on ‘Decolonizing the Heritage Sector in Scotland’.

Toni Morrison Film Screening

This screening of an intimate film directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders explores the life and works of Nobel laureate Toni Morrison. Joined by peers like Angela Davis, Fran Lebowitz, and Oprah Winfrey, Morrison reflects on race, America, and the human condition through her literature. 

Held in the lecture theatre on level 3 of the Andersonian Library, those looking to come along can watch the film on Thursday 24 October at 5:30pm.
