The Snuts kick-started their tour promoting new album Millennials in style at Glasgow Barrowlands on Tuesday 27th February.

The iconic venue provided the perfect stage quite literally for the Whitburn band to bring their new pop up album cover to life in the on stage set up and was the ideal back drop for frontman Jack Cochrane to launch into Novastar swiftly followed by crowd pleasing sing-along future anthem Millionaires.

There was no need to whip the highly partisan audience into a frenzy as they were already with the band from the opening chords and it was evident that the band fed off the electric atmosphere playing all the songs from the new album in quick succession barely stopping for a breather and credit to each band member, Joe McGilveray (guitar), Callum Wilson(bass) and Jordan Mackay (drums) along with Cochrane for staying tight during this frenetically paced set. Stand outs from this first half performance being the afore mentioned Millionaires and Gloria as the band did then take a small pause.

There then followed a surreal set of events. The lights went down, Maggie May began to play, the lights went back up as a bright yellow jacketed Sir Rod Stewart strutted on stage and boomed out his much loved classic. To be fair this had most of the crowd fooled (and much of the online mainstream media outlets). Believing it was the great man himself up in Glasgow for a wee cameo at the Barras until the next morning when it was revealed as a PR stunt by The Snuts themselves as they vied for the top album spot against Rod and Jools Holland.

With Rod dispatched, the band reappeared and began to play the required bangers from their previous 2 albums. Notably, All Your Friends, the crowd supplying the ‘Olés’ for The Rodeo and Seasons which was a tour debut and of course ending the night with what else could it have been- Glasgow!

This was the perfect end to a perfect gig by one of Scotland’s up and coming young bands who are rapidly building up the fan base and live repertoire that should see them on the road to success for the years to come.
