Strathclyde Labour Society will host both Scottish Labour leadership contenders for a hustings event on Wednesday, 11th October from 6pm in the Union.

Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health, Anas Sarwar, will appear alongside Central Scotland MSP, Richard Leonard.

The BBC will also be filming the event.

It follows on from Sarwar’s recent comments towards rival Leonard, who backed triggering Article 50 in a symbolic vote at Holyrood in February, saying

“We need a leader who fights a Tory hard Brexit, not one who backs them on hard Brexit.”

Leonard later responded by criticising the Conservatives on their handling of Brexit. He said: “The Tories have made a real hash of the Brexit negotiations. David Davis and Boris Johnson are making a mockery of the country at one of the most crucial points in our history.”
