The University of Strathclyde was victorious in two separate categories at last month’s Inspiring City Awards.
The university landed both the Business and Industry award, as well as the Education award, ensuring a double success for Strathclyde.
The Business and Industry award ensured recognition for the efforts of the University’s Technology and Innovation Centre, which was opened in 2013. The centre contributes £300m GVA to the Scottish economy, and is part of the overall £1.4bn contribution which will be provided by Strathclyde over the next seven years.
Commenting on the event, the leader of Glasgow City Council Frank McAveety said: “The Inspiring City Awards 2015 is a truly special occasion celebrating the very best that Glasgow has to offer from the worlds of industry, education, sport, culture, the arts and the environment.”
He added: “The awards are the perfect opportunity to reward those individuals and businesses who go the extra mile to make a difference to our great city.”
The awards obtained by Strathclyde continue its recent streak of success in the ceremony, with University Chancellor Lord Kelvin of Smith being honoured in 2014 for his work during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
