Where do we go from here
If the earth dies from lack of care?
Where do we see the thistles and primroses
That dress the moors and mountains?
Where do we find the beauty that once
was the ocean floor and the smile of our eyes?
Before plastics became king
And poisoning metal became a usual thing?
How did we fall away
From replenishing the earth of creations day?
How did we unite in war and peace
To quench the glow of the universe?
But the time has come
For the earth to heal and hum.
To when Earth’s food was medicine.
And the Sun was a vitamin.
Hiding beasts must regain their confidence,
And all birds must reclaim their homes.
We are the race that leaves no wounded behind.
For together we win, with hands entwined.
Jute bags should replace plastic ones.
Longer walks should be exchanged for short bus rides.
Every birthday we should plant a tree,
Because earth first is what our goal must be.
Where do we go from here,
If we don’t choose the earth, and hold it dear?
Environmental chemist exploring the hidden chemistry of our world. Poet capturing the moments science can’t measure.
