Holiday 2017: Video Game Buying Guide

With the winter holidays coming up, I think it is safe to say we have all earned a good rest. I intend to catch up on any games coming out or ones that I just haven’t had enough time for in particular these five games that I recommend you also pick up some time over the break.

To start off the list is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I have been looking forward to this game since I saw its gameplay for the first time at this year’s Nintendo Direct. It immediately took me by surprise with its colourful environment, as well as its numerous creatures. I would recommend that anyone with a Switch picks up this game over the break.

Next is South Park: The Fractured But Whole, a game that’s been out for a while but I’ve not yet had a chance to get a good amount of time with yet. With a story that’s just as funny as the TV show and a whole new combat system from the previous game, it kept me laughing from what I have played so far and can’t wait to get back to it soon.

The third game is Stardew Valley, if you’re looking for a game that will completely relax you this break then definitely give it a go. It’s a game bursting with content that will keep you coming back to it for hours on end.

Next is Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, whilst their games are aimed for a younger audience, I always seemed to be drawn back to the Lego franchise. There’s a mix of nostalgia and a genuinely fun game in this choice and I look forward to getting some time with it.

Finally, it’s Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. One of the main attractions here for me is the fact that these will be the last Pokémon games for handheld devices. So after an unforgettable time playing these games, it will certainly be a fond farewell to my favourite franchise but also an opportunity to look forward to what the future holds for it.
