Strathclyde Telegraph

Your paper needs you – we’re hiring

Do you get the shivers from writing about student politics? Does Breaking News have you breaking out in a sweat? Do you live for reviewing gigs? Has it been your secret life-long dream to write for an award-winning student newspaper?

Yes? Well, good news! As the new academic semester rolls on in, the Strathclyde Telegraph is on the hunt for enthusiastic contributors to join the ever-growing Telegraph Family for the 2016/17 year!

The University of Strathclyde’s only newspaper, the Strathclyde Telegraph, is now in its 52nd year of circulation, leaving behind it an impressive history of high quality journalism- even winning Best Student Newspaper 2011 at the Herald Student Press Awards!

And this is still only the beginning- we are striving to take the Telegraph to new heights; producing more content, covering more genres, and, ultimately, being a better service for our readers- but in order to do this, we need your help!

It’s easy to get started contributing to the Telegraph- you don’t need loads of experience (we’ll help you get started out), all you need is a love of writing, and a passion for journalism (though being able to stick to deadlines would be a great help as well). There’s a whole range of subjects you can pick to write about too! From Breaking News to New Bands, from sports so sex- we’ve got it all covered. You can choose from a range of pitches created by our team of fabulous sub-editors, or even pitch your own idea to us- we like this!

This year we’re aiming to make the Telegraph more of a society as well, and this means socials, lots of them, and more opportunities to meet the people behind the words! We want to build more than a paper- we want to create a community, and one that you can be a part of!

Sounds like something right up your street? All you need to do is email our Editor-in-Chief, Jennifer, and she’ll give you everything you need to know- or join our newly created Facebook group, Strathclyde Telegraph Contributors 2016/2017, and we’ll add you in right away!

So if you pride yourself on having a way with words, or just simply want to get more involved with the student life- don’t hesitate to hit us up, and help us create a paper to be proud of.
