Smile, it’s . . . Autumn!

So let’s face it. Summer is long gone.

We can all wave a fond farewell to sun, shorts and Sambuca on the beach for another year. It’s dark, it’s cold and the overflowing river of uni assignments has already burst its banks. Autumn, is officially back. And with it, every year, comes an overhanging sense of doom and gloom as our amazing summer memories seem all the more distant.

Before crying into our last mixed fruit Kopparberg, though, we should consider all there is to appreciate about this time of year! There is so much to look forward to which makes summer seem, dare I say it, a bit overrated?

From crisp mornings, to golden afternoons, against streets lined with fallen, orange leaves and chocolate brown conkers, autumn is undoubtedly one of the prettiest times of year.

Temperatures are dropping. But at least now we can embrace the cold weather, rather than adopting the ‘leave the jumper at home’ attitude of many a brisk summer evening gone by! Between cosy knits, fluffy socks and a good old hat and scarf combo, who doesn’t love a bit of layering to keep warm?

What’s more, Halloween and Bonfire Night simply wouldn’t feel right over a long sunset at dusk. Dark nights were meant for this time of year!

And best of all, the pressures of maintaining a bikini diet, amazing social life and cracking tan for us girls are no more! It’s been a long wait, but our relationships with nights in, take away food and a pair of trusty black opaque tights have thankfully been rekindled once again!

So, pull on a sweater, phone in a Chinese and enjoy this cosy, comfy season.

(Although, best book up next year’s holiday before all the good deals go!)
