The Rise of Table Tennis

Club President Paul Bajan reports…

THE Table Tennis club was founded this year by four very enthusiastic individuals. We discovered that we all enjoyed the game and wanted to join the Strathclyde club.

However, seeing that there was no club, we founded it and now we look to develop the cub with our motto: “The sky is the limit!”

We are the newest club at Strathclyde and even though we are the youngest in the Sports Union, a large number of people have already shown interest in the club by attending our meetings before becoming members.

We would like you to meet the club’s representatives in person by coming to training sessions but till then we will make a brief presentation on everyone:

My vision for the club is to make it the most popular club at the University of Strathclyde and really put our University on the map of Table Tennis in the UK. I don’t want our club to blend in and become just another sports club; I want it to stand out through its game, through its results and through the attitude of the members and the activities that we organise.

Our club captain Bartek Soltowski adds: “I hope that my work of putting a team together will pay off really soon as Strathclyde has some really talented players. Competition results are important but they don’t count for everything. It is also important to have a good environment in which to play and most importantly: to have fun whilst practicing the sport.”

We will be represented in Nottingham at the BUCS Individual Table Tennis championship that will take place in March.

The club has around 20 official members but is ever-growing with new students joining and coming along to our training sessions.

Official training times are:

Training takes place in the Activities Room of the Centre for Sports and Recreation.

Table Tennis is the fastest growing sport in the world, so be one step ahead and join us today!
